Importance of Mental Health

Mental health in the 21st century is a topic of great concern that deserves to be brought to light especially, with the global pandemic hitting the world, the terror of death encloses the civilians. It has given rise to plenty of apprehensions regarding the present and future, yet the past is to be considered with an experienced lens. Mere imagination of the dread of living in the confines of the dark, seeing lives being lost, debates on survival pitched out in the world while awaiting the production of the vaccine seems to be a horrendous scene to be around.

That feeling of anxious anticipation seems to cocoon the minds though we pray for a positive outcome. From going at a fast speed without a thought, suddenly the planetariums are impelled to rethink their lifestyles and mannerisms. The generation that has been chasing the high standards for themselves in terms of physical appearances and financial stability is abruptly demanded to slow down. What was thought to be healthy is no longer an option to continue while people struggle to adapt to the novice world, dependent on masks, and sanitization of themselves and the environment.

Isn’t it like an unexpected twist of the creator and the story of every character out there got tied in a way where we got enslaved together to fight the unseen virus that seems to threaten the lives and livelihood of the globe?

For decades, we have lived within the loop of being judged for everything we do. The most, often, comes from the people closest to us while we hustle each day to prove ourselves in every aspect of our lives. The exposition of thoughts requires a safer environment along with open-mindedness to be heard and understood. In such cases, how safe one feels to communicate their angst, paranoia, or mental outrage.

If before, we were told to hide our deep-seated fears and sorrows; the COVID-19 has propelled us on a path further to choose self-independency and self-analysis as the way of life. It has not only enabled the citizens to rely on the power of ‘SELF’ but also urged them to join communities of their interest to promote and prosper in the respective fields of career advancement.

‘A profitable economy’ seems like a faraway dream for many. Still, being of help to the underprivileged whilst breaking free from the continuous channel of reveries of the unknown days to unfold is a step to be taken ignoring the limited believes of our mind. Social media has served a great purpose over the last few decades in connecting us to the different parts of the communities but recently, it has become a way of living for many youngsters out there to earn their daily incomes.

In the competitive chaos, when the mentality of proving ourselves to the social circles, overpowers a right kind of sensibility, it’s a blessing to be a factual figure than an opinionated one.

What one feeds to their mind is always a complex ingredient than the one we swallow during our meals. Mind fasting is an essential key point to control any kind of mental disorder or regular stress, anxiety, pressure-related with personal and professional endeavors. One of the best ways to this powerful technique is to confide in yourself regarding a particular event or incident. The headspace can be tricky when it comes to resolving emotional situations; a series of complex notions form every second but it’s how we battle those depressive feelings and set ourselves onslaught for achieving a greater purpose in life is what makes us a winner.

The idea is never to let the mind play oneself but to aware of the general masses that a heart and mind is a delicate thing; a mere word, action, or even behavior can trigger an individual in a way where they might get suicidal. Though, people are maturing as we are heading to the golden era; yet the recent case of Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s sudden demise is a confirmation of how a career can lead to the downfall of a noble soul.

‘A happy face never means a happier heart or soul.’ In retrospect, it might be difficult but when one does relate the quote to their personal experiences, then you exactly hit the ax right where it needs to be slammed. Isn’t it?

So, how does one maintain mental health? There’s no particular analogy, treatment, or even machine that can immediately improve the condition of your brain.

Health organizations are keen on discharging their services at a higher cost to the public, unaware that the crisis often isn’t in the body of the one seeking treatment but it’s the belief system encroached upon that individual that elicits a mental illness.

It’s not a shame, nor a curse; it’s a state where neither one person believes in happiness nor sadness; blankness and grief become a permanent companion, and the one struggling through it, prefers to disconnect from life itself. Withdrawal from the world is fine. Contrary, separation from one’s self, goals, and creative activities is not an option.

To explore one’s intelligence through artistic ways is the biggest solution for anyone undergoing a period of mental caging.

Sometimes, when nothing is the cure then art and laughter become the best combination to heal a broken mind that thinks, it’s too lost to find its way back home.

It’s been seen that society always holds prejudices against several discussions; mental health awareness is that one myth that needs open conversations in public platforms, social events, schools, colleges, offices, and every place where there are a heart beating and breathing. Now, is the time to smash the stereotypes set against anything or anyone.

If not done now, then the day isn’t far when we will see more funerals than birthday celebrations. Whether it’s a toddler or an adult, each age-group deserves to be rescued from this hazard of mental health and given education on how to be more considerate of themselves, their thought patterns, and their consciousness which might be in a dire need of purification.

As a collective generation, every citizen must step forward and become responsible for their callous action; ignorance towards the feelings and situations of others is no longer a choice. It’s a threat imposed on mankind at large.

For bright and healthy years to be born, EMPATHY and HUMANITY shall join hands to promote a POSITIVE MENTALITY. Then, we can accomplish the task of rescuing lives and paving a path for a fit population that develops with sound mind and example.

“Let HUMOR

be a sign of a

VIGOROUS MIND.”
